Everything You Need To Know About EXE Errors
Computer users may hope that their computers will run forever and not develop any problems, and while it is good to be optimistic, when it comes to computers, knowledge and precaution are the keys to avoiding most problems. The reason why billions of dollars are lost due to computer errors every year is that many users continue to avoid looking these computer problems in the eye and do not follow simple rules of preventive maintenance.
One such error that frustrates PC owners with a Windows Operating System is the EXE error. If you have been using Windows for a while now, chances are that you have faced this error at least once.
So, what is this EXE error and how can you deal with it?
This article enlists basic facts about EXE errors that you as a computer user ought to know:
- Origin: EXE errors are problems associated with EXE or executable files which are responsible for running a complete application or achieving a particular task in that application. If these EXE files get damaged, corrupt or develop conflicts with other EXE files, EXE errors will crop up.
- Manifestation: This error usually display error messages, such as:
“Windows cannot find File_Name.exe.”
“Windows cannot find Program_Name. Make sure you typed the name correctly.”
Common examples of the EXE error include ikernel.exe error and iexplore.exe error.
- Importance: EXE files are a very efficient and popular way of running programs, and all applications need EXE files to perform properly. When you download an application, you can run that application by simply clicking on the EXE file. In order for your computer to run smoothly, it should be free of any EXE errors.
- Impact: An EXE error will prevent the running or even opening up of an application like Internet Explorer or MS Excel. Other times, an exe error may allow the application to open but become very slow. Some of the serious errors are known to even disallow login and system access to users.
- Causes: The most common causes of EXE errors are Virus and Spyware Infections. These infections change the file associations of EXE files in the Windows Registry. Other causes are trying to install an application with damaged or corrupt EXE files and conflicts between EXE files of different software.
- Prevention: Preventive measures include installing a reliable anti-virus and anti-spyware software on your system. Other measures include making sure that the applications you download are complete and there are no incomplete program files. Another important step is to avoid downloading free software from sources that are not reliable.
- Probability: Each computer has more than a thousand EXE files and invariably some of them will develop a problem. So while you can prevent most EXE errors, sometimes they may be unavoidable. So, while it is a good idea to prevent EXE errors, you must also know how to deal with these errors once they develop.
- Cure: Fixing EXE errors caused by invalid registry entries by manually examining each registry entry can be very cumbersome. Registry cleaning software makes the task of repairing these bad registry entries a very smooth and easy process. Registry cleaners use advanced algorithms to scan the Windows registry and repair all errors such as EXE errors in a short period of time.
How To Deal With Frequent Computer Errors
Computer errors are a fact of working life. It is accepted as normal to encounter a few errors while working on computers. The key to reduce the chances of recurrence of these errors is to understand what causes them and follow a few easy preventive measures.
Causes of Computer Errors:
There may be various reasons of PC errors. A few common causes are listed below:
- Malfunction in hardware components.
- Fault in device drivers installed on the PC.
- Missing files or other problems related to software.
- Conflict between applications or hardware running simultaneously.
- Errors in the Windows Registry due to corruption and bloating.
- Problems in the hard disk caused by unclean or cluttered hard drive.
- Infections caused by malicious software such as virus or spyware.
Understanding Computer Errors:
Let us understand computer errors with the help of a few examples:
This device is either not present, not working properly, or does not have all the drivers installed. (Code 10) If you encounter this problem, it means that you have problems with the device drivers and you can find its resolution by updating the driver.
This application has failed to start because MSVCR80.dll was not found. Re-installing the application might fix the problem. This error may occur due to various software problems and is usually a result of conflict between applications or missing or damaged DLL files.
“Spoolsv.exe - Application Error
The instruction at "0x77fcc2c0" referenced memory at "0x00000000". “The memory could not be written." Spoolsv.exe error usually occurs when the print spooler folder gets filled up with a large number of no-longer-required printing-related files.
If you encounter a problem repeatedly, it is a good idea to perform thorough research on the Internet for its cause and resolution.
Preventing Computer Errors:
Performing some simple tasks listed below will help you avoid computer errors:

Troubleshooting PC Errors Caused By Malware
A recent study that was conducted to compare the security perception of computer users and the actual security level present on their systems brought out startling figures. While 85% of these users perceived that their PC was well or adequately protected against malware like virus, worms, spyware and Trojans etc., it was found that in reality over 90% of those surveyed had one or more malware present in their computers. Around 60% of them did not bother to update their anti-malware programs on a regular basis, and it was also found that 65% of these users did not have secure firewall connections configured on their PC.
The conclusion of this study is that you may not be as well-protected from malicious software attacks as you may perceive. This difference in perception and reality can give you a false sense of security regarding your PC and you may not take adequate steps to protect your system against these online assaults.
These assaults at the least have the potential of causing annoying PC errors that may interfere in the normal functioning of your computer. Some serious errors may make your computer slow down to a frustratingly slow speed or even cause a complete system crash.
The following are some simple tasks that you may perform to prevent this situation and troubleshoot errors generated by malware:
- Implement a Reliable Firewall. Your first line of protection against the unwanted and troublesome malware programs is the Firewall. As the name suggests, the firewall helps in blocking all unsolicited incoming traffic to your computer or network. For a normal PC user, the built-in Windows Firewall is usually enough. However, if your computer comprises mission critical data, it is recommended that you get yourself a better and more sophisticated firewall.
- Enable Automatic Update, Real-time Protection, and Automatic Scan Features of Your Antimalware Tools. Just having antivirus and antispyware tools is not enough to prevent malware infections and malware files, such as aspimgr.exe and d.exe. To fix aspimgr.exe and d.exe errors and prevent other such virus files from infiltrating your PC, it is absolutely essential for you to update your antimalware tools on a daily basis. You must also opt for a tool with the real-time protection feature and schedule daily full system scans to ensure that your PC stays free and protected from the latest malware.
- Update your Software. Many malware programs are built around the bugs and security lapses discovered in programs after they are released in the market. To patch up these bugs, it is essential that you make it a habit to update all your software, including the Windows operating system, device drivers and applications periodically. It is a good idea to enable the automatic update feature if it is available with your software. To keep your Windows operating system and other Microsoft software updated, you must enable the Windows Automatic Update feature. You may use a good driver scanner tool to ensure that your drivers also stay updated at all times.
- Keep a Check On Unsolicited Processes. Many times, when your computer is infected with a virus or spyware, you may find processes similar to legitimate Windows processes running on your computer. For example, you may find processes such as algg.exe or allg.exe running on your computer, which are similar to legitimate Windows operating system file, alg.exe. If you find any such processes in the Windows Task Manager, kill them, update your antimalware tools and perform a thorough full system scan to detect and remove all malware.
- Clean Your Registry. Malware programs add several entries in the Windows registry. So, in the end, it is best that you use a good registry cleaner tool to scan your registry to detect and remove all malware entries from within it.

How to Make Your Personal files Accident Proof
Although there is no way to protect your data in a way that guarantees you will never lose anything, there are easy ways to make sure your data is as safe as it could be. Most people save their songs, pictures, word docs, and other personal files in a folder that is on the same hard drive as their operating system. These days their are many inexpensive (or sometimes free) options out there.
-
Usb memory sticks are getting very inexpensive and are available almost anywhere.
-
Online Storage at sites like iDrive or xDrive offer some free storage options (up to 2GB) and other options that are inexpensive
-
Last but not least Hard Drives, whether they are internal or external, are becoming less and less expensive
No matter which of these options you choose you can start to save your precious files to this extra drive and it will save you quite a bit of expense and worry. I do data recovery myself and its not an easy process. Most of the people that have needed my data recovery services, needed me because their Operating Sytem crashed beyond recovery and all their files were lost along with their operating system. Storing your important files on drive other than your OS can save you from ever having to deal with this problem.

This is an image of an 8GB usb drive that, for most users can store all their personal files and more and the price can be as low as $14.00 dollars at most local stores such as Wal-Mart.
Computer Repair Services:
Who to trust?
In today's economy one of the last things we consider maintenance and repairs on is our computers. Even when we as consumers know it has to be fixed it's hard to know who to trust for quality work at a fair price. I got into this business several years ago when I finally got tired of a local computer repair store's policies. The would charge for diagnosis. Do unauthorized work and then essentially hold my PC hostage. None of there policies were clear, that is, until you were on the wrong end of those policies. Along the way helping my first customers I've learned that the biggest culprits for causing people to mistrust computer techs were the big boys (who I will not name). There are several people who have been overcharged for shoddy, work that is niether explained or honestly invoiced. Although there are a few bad apples out there, most computer technicians want to put in a good days honest work like the rest of us. Here are a few ways to make sure your tech is what you want.
Do they have a clear pricing schedule?
Do they charge for diagnostic?
Do they clearly explain problems and solutions in layman's terms?
Are they willing to mentor you or just let you watch?
These aren't the only ways to tell, but they can give you a pretty good idea of who you are dealing with. I recomend shopping around. Most any town has mutiple choices for computer repair and tech support. I know of several good reputable computer repair firms (myself included) right here in Cleveland, TN. So with that happy hunting and I hope to hear from you at One Geek Solutions.

How to Fix Printer Related Errors
A printer is one of the most important computer peripherals and is extensively used in business as well as personal life. The preventive maintenance of a printer is crucial for its smooth functioning and a well-maintained printer is less likely to desert you in a time of need. Usually, most businesses outsource the regular maintenance of their printers to an outside agency. A majority of home PC owners on the other hand tend to ignore the maintenance of their printers until something goes wrong.
However, like any other machine, printers may encounter some problems. These problems may be related to hardware issues like component failure, empty cartridges and so on. They can also be related to incorrect connections, and dust and power problems. Finally, some printer errors may be related to software issues such as driver problems or common computer application errors related to some critical executable or EXE files.
One of the common errors that Windows users report is the hpcmpmgr.exe shutdown error. When you try to shutdown your PC, the hpcmpmgr.exe process hangs and slows down the entire shutdown process. This error usually occurs when either the hpcmpmgr.exe file that belongs to the HP printer driver is corrupt or is outdated. You can resolve the issue by downloading and installing the latest drivers from the HP Web site.
Users also complain about high CPU usage caused by the spoolsv.exe printer process. This spoolsv.exe problem usually occurs due to the accumulation of print spool files in the Printer spool folder and a filled up Temp folder. Most of the time, you can fix this printer error by deleting these unwanted files from your computer.
Let us now have a look at some of the tasks that you can perform when a printer error occurs:
- First check the essentials—ensure that the printer data cable is connected to the printer and your computer, ensure that the printer power cable is connected properly, ensure that the printer is turned on, and finally, ensure that the printer is correctly installed on your computer. These are just the basics, but quite often printer errors occur when one of these tasks is not done.
- Next, ensure that you have the correct and updated printer driver on your computer. Outdated and incompatible drivers will generate errors and hinder the printing process.
- Ensure that the printer cartridge is full. Empty cartridges will not print properly and generate errors.
- Check if there are some large print documents in queue. Usually, when you are using a network printer, your prints may take a long time. One of the most common causes for this is that there are some other users on the network who are using the printer. If this happens, just be patient, your document will print when all the print jobs in the queue before you have finished printing.
- Check your PC for malware infections. Viruses and Trojans may infect the printer driver files, and prevent them from working normally. When this happens, you may not be able to print your documents. To perform malware scans, you need to use reliable antivirus and antimalware tools.
- Use the Disk Cleanup utility to clean all unwanted temporary files.
- Scan and clean your registry. To do this easily and efficiently, you may use a good and dependable registry cleaner tool.
